Team 142 is the best. Our nurse Marie D. is so passionate for her work and caring for her patients. Marie is like an angel. I can relax knowing Marie will know how to handle the most challenging times. She is always thoughtful and respectful to my spouse. She has made my life 100% less stressful. Thank you, Marie, for always going above and beyond. I look forward to your weekly visits and you bringing out the joy in Charles. Thank you!

My wife was a VITAS patient for 6 months. I am so glad we chose VITAS because it turned out that everyone they sent were passionate professionals who went above and beyond what I would have expected. They took such good care of my wife and me. They were on top of what was going on, and they just kept stepping up the care as the disease progressed. Thank you VITAS!

VITAS was there for my late husband and me every step of the way during hospice. The staff was caring and
professional. During a rough night, they sent out a nurse at 4 am to help.
I highly recommend VITAS—they helped us tremendously during this difficult time.

Team 1416 has been an indispensable help to me and my mother. Their service has been above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot give enough praise and thanks for Yves Rose, Esther, and Daniella, who has arranged for Thanksgiving dinner for us and gave my mom a quilt created by a VITAS volunteer. That is a special gift indeed.
Thank you all for showing my mom such kindness.

My mother's VITAS team was very caring and compassionate, especially during the last few days. I cannot express enough love and generosity for this team who demonstrated time after time their commitment to my mother. This is a profession that takes the inner soul to the next level. May God's blessing be with you all.

The VITAS staff was absolutely amazing from the first time they walked in the door! Our family cannot express the gratefulness we have for them and the care they have [provided to] my father. Hours before his passing, his nurse came, and she told us what to expect and helped comfort our hearts for what was about to happen. When he passed, she immediately provided comfort, staying with us until the undertaker left with my father. Our hearts are truly thankful for them!

My brother was in hospice care for a little over 3 months in a facility so far away that I could not visit with him until the end. Even though neither my brother or I are religious, Chaplain Martin cared for both of us in ways above and beyond what was expected. He visited my brother often, kept in contact with me, and arranged FaceTime phone visits for me. He was so helpful making sure my concerns were being met, but most of all, he was a friend for my brother. He was there to comfort me when my brother passed. The VITAS nurses and support staff also kept in touch with me throughout from the beginning to the end. Thank you to you all.

When the neurologist told me to call "hospice" for my dear mother, I assumed "starvation" and "morphine"—which were NOT THE TRUTH!
A doctor arrived the same day of my call! And then, Meredith, the nurse the next day! We became a member of Team 151! What a wonderful team. Caring, informative, patient, respectful, gentle. I just can't write enough. [I am] so fortunate to live in zip code 33065! My loving mother passed away 4 months short of her 100th birthday!
Bless you ALL!

When my dad got sick, I had more questions than answers. I did not know what hospice was or what to expect. VITAS' medical team helped us with whatever we needed, whenever we asked. From the RNs to the nurses, the social workers, and the chaplains, we felt loved and supported every step of the way. I can only express my love and gratitude for each and every person who loved and cared for my dad as he made his way home to the Lord. God bless you all. Thank you.

I cannot express how thankful and blessed we are to have a wonderful team helping to keep my father-in-law happy and comfortable! They have gone above and beyond. This is such a difficult time, and to know you have such an amazing support team helps ease your mind. I would definitely recommend VITAS Healthcare here in Pensacola, FL, to anyone in need of hospice care! Thank you to all who are a part of helping care for my father-in-law.

When my mother was in need of more support at the end of life, VITAS was there to help in any way they could. They sent nurses, social workers, home health providers, and a chaplain several times a week. They helped not only my mother but also myself in this overwhelming time in our lives. When my mom passed on, they were there to help through the emotional and legal situations. Everyone was caring, and kind, and knowledgeable. If you are going through this stressful time, I highly recommend you contact VITAS for help.

From the very first visit in the hospital with the admissions nurse to his final nurse, you have all been great. Professional, sincere, and very caring towards my father (William Y.) in his last week of life. He was able to be home, surrounded by his family, and I know it gave him great peace knowing this. So…
Thank you to everyone who was on his team. I cannot remember all your names, but I do remember your care. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Words can’t explain how amazing these people were. They became family and were so genuine with our dad. Maria C. is now family, and Jason M. was so amazingly sweet in our dad's last day.

My mom was cared for by VITAS for 5 years. All the doctors, social workers, nurses, aides, and clergy were very attentive to her needs and medical situation. Special recognition goes out to Dr. Szilvia N., my mom's primary physician, who always made time to speak with me, answer my questions, and offer her professional recommendations whenever a medical situation arose. Thank you to everyone involved in her care.

I put my mother Mona on VITAS approximately 6 weeks ago. The two ladies who came out to tell me about VITAS and ultimately enrolled us were kind, caring, patient, and so well-educated in their field. I felt like I had just signed up to become part of a family that would help me through caring for my mother with severe vascular dementia.
Since then, my experience only gets better with each day. We have a nurse named Darlene who comes twice a week and is always able to be contacted via telephone or text for any of my mother's needs. She is an angel. She changes my mother's dressings for her skin tears, does her vitals, chats with us, [and] brings us supplies. She also orders my mother's medicine, which I receive a day later. No more running to the pharmacy.
They have offered 24-hour access to a nurse, too. Everyone is warm, everyone says, “I'm sorry you're going through this”, everyone validates the experience that I'm calling about, and they will in fact send a nurse in the middle of the night when necessary. When my mother has to go to the emergency room due to a fall or severe skin tear, I simply call VITAS, and a nurse goes to the hospital and spends time with her. I didn't even have to pick my mother up when she was ready for discharge, like I've been doing for the last 5 years. They arrange a stretcher transportation to the home.
And then there is Dahlia. She comes and bathes my mother two to three times a week as I request. It is such a huge weight off of my shoulders. I'm sure it sounds trite, but when you're a caretaker, and you're alone with family far away out of town, all of these things are enormously incredibly helpful.
Then there is Dr. N. I don't know where to begin about her. She walks through the door with confidence and a beautiful smile on her face, ready to serve her patients and their families. [As] a medical social worker, I have worked with doctors and nurses all of my career. It's possible I have met one or two others like this doctor—but only that. She is incredibly bright and insanely caring. She wants to know every single detail about my mother. She sits down, and she takes her time. She is a comforter as well as a physician. When you need something, you get it immediately from her. She is so knowledgeable about all the medications and what to do and when to do it, and she is so reassuring for me and my mother. Her own staff speaks so highly of her for these very reasons.
Last evening, my mother hurt herself very badly in a fall on concrete. My mother is 92-years-old and received an enormous skin tear, which required 17 staples. My VITAS family just took over — and I needed them to because I was so shaken up. They arranged her transportation home, and best of all, my mother is being given what they call “Crisis Care,” which means I have a wonderful nurse 24 hours a day for a few days as they deem necessary. I will actually be able to sleep without worry that my mom will get up without my knowledge.
Today we have Joy taking care of my mother. She is wonderful. She has come along and taken over and relieved me of all my responsibilities. I am amazed, in awe, and so appreciative. So today, with the knowledge of my mother's fall, we were visited by Dr. N., our nurse Darlene, our Social Worker Kevin, who is also a heaven-sent angel and so reassuring, validating, kind, and gracious. All this attention in addition to Joy, who is gifting me a day off from micromanaging my mother's life. As a full-time caretaker, we don't get much sleep—we'll hope to get our rewards in heaven.
I do not wish to ever put my mother in a nursing home—I pray God willing that I will never have to. As my mother needs more care, I am confident that my VITAS team will be there to add more services as they are needed. They have made good on every promise from day one. These folks are true professionals. But what's more special is their love and their care for their patients and their families. I could not, as a medical social worker myself, recommend any agency more strongly than I recommend the wonderful folks at VITAS.

My experience has been memorable. Everyone—from our team managers to our aides, nurses, and social workers—have gone above and beyond. I could go on and on about the teamwork and the service they are providing. They have made this very difficult time we are going through a little more bearable. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I could not ask for a better experience than we had when my husband was released from the hospital as a DNR due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. The CNA who came twice a week, the RN who checked in with me weekly (I'm a retired RN) and reported to the doctor on our team, and even the chaplain who sat and prayed with us—[they] were all "the best."
We had an RN overnight just the last night, and she woke me to say, "He's passing," so that I could have that special moment and thank God for His mercy in not letting him suffer longer. I know I will be with him forever, and bitter tears after 62 years of marriage are quickly resolved to thanks, knowing he is safe and sound in the arms of His Lord. I just received the lovely teddy bear made by VITAS, and for now it resides in my husband's recliner.
Life goes on. Praise God!

My mother was placed on hospice care once she was released from the hospital on July 16. From the moment we bought her home, every single person that was involved with my mother was not only professional but also really sweet and caring. They all made a difficult situation bearable, and I’d like to thank each and every one of them: Allison, Kim, Claudette, Rev. Nancy, Colette, and Maurice.

Anne C. has been caring for my father at his ALF for the past week. She walks on water in my opinion and is a miracle worker. My dad has NEVER allowed anyone to bathe him in the five years he has been at his ALF except for me, his daughter. Anne bathed him regularly during her time with him and cared for him like a family member. She has been an angel and has made this difficult time so much easier for me and my family. I commend the entire VITAS team for their compassion, professionalism, and hard work.

My father passed away last month, [on] July 10. He was 97 years old and lived a full life. He is very much missed by us, his family.
I wanted to thank the VITAS crew, starting from Dr. N., who is a patient, caring, and passionate doctor, to our Head Nurse Carlos, who was nice, patient, and caring, to Tenesha, who was an angel with his care. Thank you all for being the support system to our beloved dad. May God bless you all.

I just wanted to thank VITAS. Your company has very caring people. You could not ask for better employees than you have. They are very wonderful people. My mom had Jae for her nurse, she was outstanding. She truly cared about her patient. And the social worker Grace was wonderful as well. They made you feel like you were their family and not just a patient.
I want to thank every one of you from the bottom of my heart. And I would recommend this company to anyone.

We're living in a time where companies and people value profit and power over our loved ones. My biggest regret was not being able to find VITAS Healthcare system sooner, where she would have gotten and been taken care of for a longer and better time until her end.
VITAS showed me that there are still people out there who care and will give them their all to provide the best care, not only to their loved ones but to their family members as well.
I lost my mother, my only family, on Saturday, July 9. This was not only a major shock, but also not having any other family members, I felt alone, and lost. I felt that I have let down my mother as well. That is where I saw I really wasn't alone, where I can really say VITAS Team 1165 became a surrogate family to me in my darkest time.
Even after the passing of my mother, the VITAS team continue helping and supporting me. There are no words, no action I feel I can ever show or repay for all they have done, not only for my mother but for their continuing support.
I know I sound so melodramatic, but for a person who has lost so much and after got back hope and so much more, it is hard not to show how grateful and lucky I am.

We were extremely hesitant choosing hospice for our dad, as we had a few very unpleasant experiences with a few other nursing agencies. From the moment VITAS came into our home, we felt at ease and cared for. Our experience with Team 1416 was flawless. Experienced and compassionate caregivers. Our chaplain and social worker provided continuous support as we navigated this road with our dad. We honestly could not have asked for a more wonderful team of caregivers.
Our dad passed June 9, 2022 with his children by his side. There are not words to sufficiently thank VITAS and our amazing care team. They are forever a part of our families story.

Our father recently passed. He was sent home to live his last days peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones. Being a Latin family, this experience was as hard as they come, but we couldn't be more grateful for having Juan, Tanesha, and Dr. Nagy with us all the way. They were not only very knowledgeable but also very humane, considered, sweet, and supportive. Thanks again, you made a huge difference.

I work for a funeral home, and over the years I had families tell me how pleased they were with VITAS. When it came time to put my mom on hospice, I chose VITAS, and they were absolutely wonderful!!! I always felt like they cared for her so much. They communicated so well with me and treated me as if I was part of their family. Each person that took care of my mom was so loving and caring and always took her best interest to heart.
Thank you so much, VITAS. I am truly grateful for everyone!

I cannot say enough good things about the care we received from VITAS. The nurses and aides were amazing, and my husband looked forward to their visits. He appreciated the quality of care he received and enjoyed the conversations and time that each spent with him. Their care allowed him to spend his last few months at home and as comfortable as possible. Thank you!

My father has been in hospice for approximately 6 months. I am filled with gratitude with all the care VITAS has given my father. Starting with Team 142 Nuglenis G., RN primary nurse; Erika L., team secretary; Kenia M., CNA; Maria R., his first CNA; Barry C., Team 142 manager; and all the continuous care nurses—Marie, Violet, Heidi, Sharon, and Ann.

I am so impressed with every aspect of this company, from the nurse, the social worker, the physician, and the team that answers all my incoming calls. I feel heard in every way, I feel I am responded to immediately, and I feel my concerns are always addressed and really matter to them.
All associates of Team 1413 go above and the call of duty. I especially want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Lauren P. and Rita M., I could not survive without all they do for my mother-in-law. They are so kind and loving to her and give her the best of care, and they are always available to me to ease my mind and give me strength. I have never dealt with anyone with dementia before, and they are truly the guiding light that is helping me navigate through the darkness of my own uncertainty. They are my angels on earth, and I am forever grateful.
You can never find a better healthcare service, so if you are considering VITAS, look no further.

In such a difficult time, we were grateful for the services we received from VITAS. Although all of my father’s nurses were great, my father’s night nurse from the 24th-26th was absolutely wonderful in every way. His kindness and compassion towards both my father and my husband and me went above and beyond in every way. He even called after my father passed to express his condolences and that meant so much to us. He is the true meaning of comfort and caring, and we are so grateful that he was assigned to my fathers care.
Thank you for all that you did for us to help ease our pain. And I know if my father could, he would say the exact same thing.

Hello VITAS Healthcare, we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the VITAS team for providing my mom with care, and the family with assistance during her final moment. The compassion and attentiveness provided by the whole VITAS team staff was no doubt remarkable during a very difficult time in our lives.
When my mom's healthcare oncologist informed us that we needed to begin coordinating hospice care, the VITAS team swiftly responded and came to our home that evening. Not really understanding hospice care, a representative arrived within hours to help explain a care strategy.
The experience of preparing and planning for the needed care of a loved one was not easy. The VITAS team really gave our family amazing support through a very emotional time, from early home hospice care to final facility hospice care located at Rockledge, FL. The VITAS team ensured my mom was comfortable through the entire process of care. VITAS representatives and teams listed below were all superb in our experience! Yes, we lost our mom, but do know she no longer must deal with the pain of cancer, other illnesses, or worries.
Again, thanks to the whole VITAS team for their outstanding care and support provided to our mom/family. God bless you all!
Emily, admissions nurse; Crystal, home care nurse; Dr. Z., physician; Ellen, chaplain; Stephanie, social worker; Yolande, HHA; Rockledge facility nurse team, facility chaplain, cleaning staff, and to the health care equipment delivery team.

April S., HHA, came every day to give my dad a bath. She would talk to him while giving him a bath to make him feel comfortable. When she got ready to leave, she would always tell him that she loved him and give him a hug. My dad and I thought of her as one of the family. We really appreciate everything she did. I thank her so much.

I personally want to thank Diana B., LPN, for helping me on June 17, 2022, with my father on his last day of his life. I called for help that night when I needed help to my house. They sent me Diana B.; it was like they had sent me an angel from heaven to help me. She treated me and my dad like I was her own family. I really appreciate her so much. Skylar C., music therapy, is a nice and polite person. Skylar has a love for music, playing guitar and singing just like my dad did. She would play any song that my dad asked her to play, and if she didn't know it, she would look it up on her phone and play it for him. My dad liked every song she played and sang; sometimes, he would sing with her. She made him feel more relaxed and at ease by singing and playing the guitar. She is such a wonderful person, we really appreciate her playing music and want to thank her so much.

Leann O., RN, was a nice, caring, loving person, and had a nice personality. Leann really loved her job and was really good at it. She would take my dad's blood pressure, heart rate and checked his lungs and fill his pill planner up. Leann would just talked to him just to see how he was really doing after losing the woman he loved. Leann really help him to deal with the pain in his heart after losing the woman he loved. She was like one of the family. We couldn't have done it without her. I thank Leann so much for everything.

My brother was being cared for by VITAS for around two years. The care he received was outstanding. He was kind of a loner but trusted all the staff that came to visit. I can’t say thank you enough. Everyone was wonderful.

Thank you, Dr. N., for providing great care to my spouse during your visits. Dr. N. is professional and caring. She relates extremely well with my spouse who has Alzheimer's. My mom has Alzheimer's disease and is getting less mobile each day with complicated meds and challenges in mental cognition. VITAS came in and have been a blessing from day one. Now we have a nurse who stops by weekly, takes her vitals, and adjusted her medication.
They come to the house, which is incredible because it takes mom several minutes to walk a small distance which made her doctor visits very challenging to impossible.

My mother just recently passed away after a long, difficult illness. The staff at VITAS were remarkably compassionate, caring, and dedicated. Every single person we spoke to at VITAS was very compassionate and helpful. My Dad seemed to enjoy the visits from the nurses. In such a difficult time for everyone in the family, it was a huge relief to have someone to call for anything we needed. They were very good about ordering his medications and calling to ask how things were going.
My family and I were especially grateful for Chaplain Mark H., who sat with us for hours during those final days of Dad's passing. He helped us immensely through this very sad time. We will never forget his kindness and guidance through it all. He was even kind enough to do the Eulogy at Dad's celebration of life service, even though it was a far drive. There are also some incredible volunteers at VITAS who made us teddy bears sewn from Dad's shirts! When my sister and I saw them we couldn't believe how adorable! Brought happy tears to our eyes for sure.
Thank you, VITAS. I am so called we called you for help.

Paul was so very kind and extremely helpful at a time we needed this the most. His knowledge, wisdom, and care made one of the most challenging situations turn into a blessing and gave my sister and me the strength to carry on. He not only took care of the paperwork, answered our many questions but also worked alongside the medical staff and, if that wasn't enough, he was so gracious, respectful, and tender with our dying mother. I thought Paul might be an angel, his presence and skills made going through this time possible.

While nearing the end of my dad's battle with cancer, we were struggling to keep him comfortable at home. The doctors provided very little when we reached out for help, and nothing if it was after business hours. And then we were connected with VITAS…
From the very first day, we had round-the-clock phone support and regular visits from nurses. I can't find the words to express how much this meant to us, knowing we had a team of people who were willing and able to help us help our dad. They came alongside us and supported our family with everything we needed... from equipment, to updating medications, to teaching us comfort care 'tricks.' Their support allowed Dad to receive the care he needed in his own home, surrounded by his family. We will always be grateful for our VITAS team.

VITAS nurses and health aides, helpers, case workers, managers, emergency phone workers, overnight nursing staff, your chaplain, your VITAS equipment staff was great too— they were always informative.
I learned a lot from you, your nursing and case workers and phone staff gave me hope. I will always be grateful to you. Thank you for caring for my husband.

On 3/20/2022 my uncle was diagnosed with a terminal brain cancer. As devastating as it was to receive this news, the family decided to go with VITAS for his hospice care. From the day he was diagnosed at the hospital to his last breath, VITAS was outstanding!
I would like to thank the whole team. I'm very sorry for those of you who we spoke with that I can’t remember your names or even last names, but the whole Team 312: You’re all included, our gratitude to you guys for the genuine words, comfort, support, kindness, patience, education, the love you gave us.
Everyone was very supportive, not only with the patient but with the whole family and friends. You were always available for us at anytime with kindness.
From the RN Maria that got the ball rolling to the secretary Sarai that walked us through the process to the nurse Zenia and the nurse’s supervisor and nurse practitioner. HHA Gretti, Dr. Tamika B., transportation, EMS, the guys that delivered the equipment, and of course the doctors that kept my uncle comfortable in his transitions.
Even to all the wonderful nurses, Dr. Clayton at VITAS inpatient unit that took care of him in his last days, and especially Ken that was right there by our side as he passed: Thank you!
VITAS Healthcare is definitely highly recommended for your loved one’s care; in our book, the facility is #1, well-maintained and cleaned.
We thank you very much, may God bless each and everyone of you for the hard work you do for us all.

My mother-in-law is in Lauderhill, Florida, at an assisted living facility. I live in Oregon, and it has been very stressful, especially since the pandemic, to care for her.
In November, she was accepted to VITAS Healthcare Team 1413, and I can't express to you what a difference this has made in my life. All the VITAS caregivers have been amazing and have taken such good care of my mother-in-law.
Her social worker, Lauren P., and her nurse, Rita M., have been like angels on earth, not only taking great care of her needs, both physical, mental, and spiritual, but they have helped me so much in every aspect of caring for a loved one with dementia that lives so far away.
I truly do not think I would have gotten through these last few months without their help. They are kind and caring, yet firm and strong. They are very wise in their actions and always do what is best for my mother-in-law, even if she thinks otherwise. They are keeping her safe and well cared for, and I feel blessed and honored to have them our life. It is truly a gift!!! Thank You VITAS!!!

VITAS cared for our mentally handicapped sister Kim as she passed from this world to the next. They provided 24/7 personal nurse care and also brought in a hospital bed to make Kim more comfortable. Each nurse we encountered over the course of weeks was so very kind and caring. The caregivers were respectful of our privacy and went out of their way to keep us up to date on Kim's condition with excellent communication. We could not have asked for better care for our sister.
We would highly recommend VITAS if you find yourself in need of hospice care.

The help and support we received from VITAS was provided by exceptional nurses and doctor(s) with care and compassion. The social worker helped in the understanding of the processes of Medicare, which can be daunting. Our questions were answered and we never felt 'alone' when visiting our mom. The social worker would sit with us and offer a hug when needed. Thank you to mom's doctor who wrote the referral for VITAS and to VITAS for helping us.

The services were wonderful for my mother.
My mother was at home with a 24/7 caregiver. The nurses from VITAS came twice a week to check on her. Anything that was needed was provided quickly and without question. Everyone involved, from the nurses, the aide that assisted with bathing, to the people delivering the equipment—blessing to all of those that assist.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the doctors, nurses, the chaplain, to Kettly, who every time I called was so very nice. Thank you all that took such great care of my dad, who’s forever in my heart.
God called my dad home on March 7. There are no words I can express to say. VITAS hospice is great and caring while my dad was alive. My confidence was great because I knew he was with a wonderful staff that took great care of him.
So, I just wanted to express a sincere “thank you” to each one of you. Be Blessed always is my prayer.

After three weeks of extremely poor service from another hospice in Houston, we switched my son to VITAS on a Friday. [On] Saturday morning he entered his transition stage just as his weekend nurse, Trisha, made a home visit. She immediately was in contact with his doctor and started crisis care with 24-hour nursing. My son passed 48 hours later, but with amazing round-the-clock care from Trisha, Francis and Beverly, he was in no pain. These people were amazing.
Thank you, VITAS, for such incredible care during our time of need.

VITAS has become a part of my family. I don't look at them as staff. Everyone values the care they give to my mother, Johnnie. Her nurse, Anamary A., is always by our side willing to assist.
My mother took sick, which required continuous care, and Anamary had nurses assigned immediately. Monica, Ana, and Isabel took great care of mom and communicated very well. I made a request for an air mattress, and it was delivered the next business day after a late request on a Friday night. Anamary always goes the extra mile, willing and ready.
The department that assists with her daily baths gives wonderful service in seeing that my mother's hygiene is properly taken care of. Aurora is the best. I must not leave Itzel out, for were it not for her I would not have such a fantastic group assisting.
I can say that there's never been a time my calls have been unanswered. They know all of my family.
Thank you, our VITAS family!

I cannot thank you enough for providing my father with the dignity and care he deserved on his last days on this earth. Every nurse, CNA, and caretaker showed compassion and immense attention to every detail. I want to thank Team 142—you are the best! Chaplain John, Nurse Marie, CNA Maria, and all the others that came even for one day or a few hours that I cannot remember their names. Also, Dr. Nagy for showing such compassion and care for not only my dad but the family.
We would not have been able to say our goodbyes to my dad and make our peace if it was not for the wonderful caring service that VITAS provided. Thank you also to Erica who provided first-rate service every time I called. Thank you for your patience, Erica.

I thank God for Kettly every time I call just to hear a friendly voice over the phone. I thank God for the chaplain having prayer with us. I can’t thank you enough.

My husband Jorge was placed in hospice in Feb. 2020. My Jorge received the best care from Dr. Sylvia N. She is an extreme caring doctor, as well all the nurses that came every week. Kenia M. was his HHA for two years and bathed him with loving care, even though my husband’s Alzheimer’s made him a difficult patient.
I want to thank you all for your great care for him. May God bless you all.

When our family lived in Mission Viejo, CA, we used your service for my dad and it was great. Fast forward 15 years. Now I live in Hemet, CA and in the morning VITAS delivery truck was parked, and when I came home in the evening (around 5:00 p.m.), the truck was still parked there. I think you've literally converted a home into a hospital. That's some serious dedication. Kudos to VITAS!!!

My experience was absolutely awesome. Erica P. helped me to get my dad in hospice. I’m truly grateful for all she did for my family. And the nurses and doctors at VITAS, where my dad is right now, are so great. I truly thank God for them for keeping my dad pain-free.
May God continue to bless you all for how you help families through this difficult time in their lives.

Since this was our first experience with hospice care, we were overwhelmed with the many decisions to be made.
Our first contact was with Chaplin Russ. To say he was a Godsend is a understatement! He listened to all of us and helped us maneuver the best situation for our mom. He was so kind to our mom and always made sure she was heard. He not only gave my mom the spiritual guidance she wanted, he gave our family the love and peace we needed to be able to let her go.
James the nurse was awesome as well. He explained everything he was going to do and guided us in the best way to care for our mom as the days went on. He was so patient in answering our multitude of questions. When our mom did pass on, he gave me the extra time with her to just sit and pray. He said I could take as much time as I needed.
Everyone from VITAS was so pleasant and accommodating, anticipating every need.
While we all miss our mom, grandmother and great grandmother, we know she was well taken care of and went so peacefully, which was her prayer.
Thank you very much for having such loving, dedicated and knowledgeable people in your organization!

The VITAS team that cared for my stepmother was incredible. They were so kind, caring and dedicated. Each member of the team had their own unique gift to help us deal with a very difficult situation.
In addition, each person from the team was there for the entire duration of the journey. They still continue to see my father to make sure he is okay after the passing of my stepmom.
I can’t thank them enough for everything they did. They went above and beyond to care for my stepmom by taking into consideration her needs and the needs of our family.

VITAS, you are excellent in such a difficult situation. I made the choice to keep my mom at the Highlands Lake Center and have you provide hospice care at the facility.
Beginning with your office personnel who were kind and empathetic, all the way through the nurse you sent that kept me informed in a professional, yet caring manner, to the chaplain who followed up during and after, I knew I had made the right choice. You worked with the wonderful staff at the Highlands Lake Center to provide my mom with a dignified, comfortable passing for which I am so very grateful.

The family of Adlyn G. wishes to thank VITAS for the wonderful care and support that was given to our mom while she was in hospice care.
Dr. Peter W., all the nurses (ARNPs, RNs, LPNs), CNAs, chaplains, the music therapist, volunteers, and the social worker who cared for Adlyn were respectful, patient, caring, and professional.
We want to say a special “Thank you” to:
- Yolanda (the primary nurse) who was always friendly, supportive, and quick to respond to the patient’s and family’s needs
- Xiamara who was kind and gentle with mom and such a good CNA!
- Chaplain Jorge who ministered to us and was there with Yolanda and Margaret (LPN) when Adlyn passed.
You are all wonderful assets to VITAS. Thank you and God bless.

Mom had a stroke on a Monday but was still able to talk and walk with assistance. She did not want to go to the hospital for treatment as she was 95 years old. We did not know what to do, as we did not feel we could take care of her but did not want to have her taken out of our home. She had lived with us for nine years.
VITAS was recommended to us and we gave you a call. We set up an appointment and Chaplain Russ came out on Saturday morning, as this was when my wife’s sisters were available.
Russ spoke to Mom and was very reassuring to her. You could see the stress leave her face and could tell that she felt very comforted by his presence. He explained everything to us and how everything worked. We decided that home hospice would be best. Later that day, Elizabeth came out and did an evaluation and we got started. My wife and myself were greatly relieved. The next day our regular RN James came out, and we got everything rolling and ordered a hospital bed and oxygen, which were delivered the next day.
We received daily visits from either RN James or RN Jeremy, as well as from several nursing aids.
Unfortunately Mom had another stroke on Thursday morning and was unable to speak, eat or get out of bed. Again, Chaplain Russ and James came out right away and assessed the situation and gave us the support and help that we needed. We decided to keep her at home so that we could be with her and keep her comfortable.
We received daily visits from everyone and were able to keep her comfortable and peaceful. She passed away the following Tuesday.
We are so grateful for the support that the VITAS personnel gave us. Everyone was truly caring and would do whatever was needed to make her and us feel better. We cannot say enough about the VITAS personnel. They were wonderful and caring and made sure that we had everything we needed. We did not need to worry about anything. I am not sure we could have done it without their support. No one ever candy-coated anything, and they were honest and truthful about what would happen. This was something we truly appreciated.
Again, we are so grateful that they took most of the burden off of myself and my wife. Without VITAS we could not have kept her at home where she felt comfortable and loved.
We were truly blessed to have found you and have you help us through this difficult time.

My mother receives care through VITAS. Last night was a very difficult evening for my family; however, the nurses are wonderful. One nurse came over to sit with my mother and to watch her vitals.
Then the next morning, my mother's regular nurse, Janet J., went above and beyond. She spent several hours ensuring my mother’s health improved and that my mother was comfortable. In addition, she assisted my family and mother with valuable details regarding the program, therefore easing my mind and burden — and also, that of my mother's.
I am truly thankful she is with VITAS during this stage of illness. The help we have received is and has been rewarding in every manner.

The caring staff at VITAS made sure that my family and I were able to provide the best possible end-of-life care for my dad. Without their kind intervention, my dad would have passed alone. But the VITAS team that was assigned to his care made sure to treat him with the dignity he had earned during his wonderful life and care for his family with the compassion we so deeply needed.
VITAS was vital in making sure that my dear mom held the hand of her nearly 50-year partner until his very last breath, and that is such a gift for us during these difficult times.
My dad suffered a terminal injury in December, right as COVID numbers were again rising and area hospitals were tightening their visitor restrictions. Once we realized the gravity of his injury, our most important tasks were to ensure that he was comfortable and for us to spend as much of the little time we had left by his side. My dad was not on the VITAS service for long, but every single person involved in the process—from admissions staff, to nurses, to clergy, and even volunteers—were helpful, friendly and essential to the process of discharging him on hospice and away from these visitation restrictions.
Each staff member treated my dad with dignity and respect, even though they saw him at his most vulnerable. I am positive that had we been with VITAS longer, we would have only been more impressed with the caring team assembled.
VITAS will always be among our heroes for allowing us the privilege to say goodbye to our dad in person. Thank you.

The hospice system in general fits my mother well. She never wants to use an ER, an urgent care, or hospital again. We used hospice as soon as Mom understood that her wishes and hospice philosophy were in sync.
From the day I called, there has been attentiveness, speed of service, kindness, and patience with Mom and I learning the system and the myriad of services.
I believe the medical accountability and management is very good. The team is very accessible in times of medical instability. We are very pleased with VITAS.
